Real Socialization
« on: July 11, 2019, 12:09:19 PM »
I don't like seeing people using their mobile phones while eating in a restaurant. Our society has changed so much so that we don't know how to socialize in person without the use of social media. Will this trend become the norm in the future? I hope not.

It seems like the norm for now. It can be discouraging seeing people who are clearly together but are looking down at their screens. But I don't know if sitting at a table and looking away or not talking is much better, if no one feels like chatting out loud.

I can see many people are just addicted to their phones. Not only in restaurants, but also on the streets. That's pretty dangerous if you don't watch out on the streets and keep looking at your phone.

I see this as an endemic problem in our society. We don't see it that way, but if we continue on this path, then it would be a very sad future because we may have to talk to each through mobile phones instead of eye to eye communication. I may be old fashioned for having this sentiment.

I feel the exact same way. My husband hates that I have a no electronics rule during meals. Then he sits on his iPad all night and ignores me. So frustrating. I see it in my kids. My son and his fiancé are constantly on their phone and my granddaughter is dying for their attention. So sad.
