Title: Hysterectomy?
Post by: Bev1960 on March 11, 2019, 03:24:18 PM
Just wondered if any of you ladies here have had one of these? The doctor seems to think I am in need of one. Have a lot of 'female' problems going on she thinks this will take care of them all.

I'm hesitate but willing if it will solve all my problems.

If you've had one, was recovery quick? Were you in the hospital long? Just trying to gather all the info I can! Thanks

Hi Bev, well I had one but it was many years ago! I believe it was 1990. I think now a days depending on just what your problem is, they can do the suction thingy so it's not so hard on you. Others that have had one more recently can probably tell you more.

I would say though if it is something causing you a lot of pain and you feel it is necessary, (and trust your doctor) then you might consider it. The decision is yours in the end. Good luck and keep us posted!

Bev it is not like it use to be, really!  I had one too, a complete hysterectomy.  The recovery time is short and the pain minimum and non existent if you take the pain pills the first few days like you are supposed to!  Really sis, it's not like it use to be.   No surgery is looked forward to, but you dont need overly concerned.  Cheesh,  I dont want to make light of you needing surgery..    I hope you get my drift..  (hugs)  dear friend..

Well I had one a few years ago and all went well. They were able to 'suck' everything out and I actually went home the next day. Recovery is a lot shorter then when they have to cut you open. As Jeanine mentioned, if you are in a lot of pain or having other problems and you have a good doctor then I would have it done. Of course in the end in is entirely up to you! Wish you well!

Bev1960, I'm so sorry you're having so many problems. I haven't personally had a hysterectomy, but I do have a friend who has had one. It did help her.

I can't imagine what a decision this must be. We are all here to support you. Please hang in there and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Thank you ladies for your kind words. After talking with my Dr. again it seems that I can have the non surgical one where they go in with the scope and suck it out (that does sound weird!). She said I would probably go home the next day if all goes well. So, I'm thinking I will have it done but probably in a couple months because I have so much going on right now. Will keep you posted!  :039:

Hi Ladies, just wanted to update you all and let you know that I had my hysterectomy a couple weeks ago and am feeling/doing great! I'm glad I finally had it done and over with. Was only in the hospital overnight. Still have to be careful but not nearly as invasive as having to 'cut' you open...ekkkk. Slowly getting back to normal and have been visiting with a lot of friends/family while recuperating.

Thanks for all of your encouragement.... :039:

Oh Bev,  I'm so glad that you are on the road to recovery!  Did they do the vaginal or the lapo?

Hi Bev, glad to hear you are doing ok now. I take it you had the liposuction since you mentioned only staying overnight in the hospital?

Thank you ladies for your nice replies! Yes, I did have the easy way and not 'cutting' me open (ick) so recovery was a lot easier. Feeling better every day. :)
