Do you remember the point when you all of a sudden realize the grandchildren are too quiet and you wonder what they are up to? That happened at my house one day when the older boys were playing. I think they were 4 and 5 years old at the time. I called out "Tanner?" No answer. "Tanner, where are you?" No answer. I was just getting up to go see where they were when he came sliding into the dining room in his sock feet with his arms out like a performer and said, "here me are!" We laughed and laughed at him and are still laughing some 14 years later.

I don't have any grandchildren yet, but I recall these moments happening with my children. I used to revel in the silence until I realized it was too quiet! Nothing good ever happened when things got silent. It almost always meant that my daughter had gotten into my pocketbook or bathroom and gotten her hands on all of my makeup. Oh, how I hated cleaning up those messes.
