Title: Menopause and Anxiety
Post by: SusanWGF on January 07, 2019, 04:06:28 AM
Does anyone with a pre-existing anxiety condition find that menopause exacerbates the symptoms? I didn't think it was related at first, but my anxiety started to creep back up on me (after being at bay for many years) when menopause hit. It's pretty disheartening!

I don't personally struggle with anxiety but it makes sense that menopause would worsen your symptoms since it lowers your estrogen and progesterone hormones which help regulate your moods and anxiety levels.  Have you thought about hormone therapy?  I wish there was an easy solution.

No, I haven't thought about hormone therapy yet. I haven't talked to my doctor about it yet either. I have an appointment coming up so I planned to mention it at that time. I kind of hope it just goes away on its own, although I know that isn't the bet solution.  ???

Definitely mention it to your doctor. Just my personal experience, but anytime I've had a health issue that I kept to myself it ended up getting worse. When I finally mentioned it to my doctor, it got resolved quickly and easily and I was left wishing I brought it up sooner. Don't be embarrassed! They've likely seen it all.
