It's been a while since I was here last and am doing much much better now. I have been coming here and reading a 'lot' which I have to say has helped. It's also good to see so many new members.
I just wondered what a happy empty nest would mean to some of you?
With me, I guess it's that we are starting to go out more and keeping busy. Not worrying quite so much about the kids and glad that they are happy with their new 'adult' lives. I think we are more relaxed now then when they first starting leaving home.
I think it would be interesting to hear some other 'views' of a Happy Empty Nest. :039:
P.S......Sorry to hear about your hubby Jeanine but good that he is doing so well now!

To me, a happy empty nest means we found purpose and are living our life without (as you said) thinking of the kids constantly.

Expanding on what Mary said, my view of what entails a happy empty nest, is realizing our potential as our own person, independent of our children. We are still connected to our children and positively communicate with them, but our day-to-day lives are about us now instead of them.

I think I have a pretty happy empty nest. I have accepted that my daughter is living her own life, and while I worry about her, I don't worry about her all the time like I used to. I found hobbies and activities to fill my time. My husband and I readjusted, and we're doing really well. I feel like I have a purpose again. That feels great!
