Title: Low carb and heart healthy
Post by: amsmomm on January 01, 2018, 04:01:15 PM
Is eating low card foods heart healthy? We're trying to revamp our diet this year but we have to also eat heart healthy. There are so many different diets out there, it's hard to figure out which is better for which.

I'm not an expert, so hopefully someone else comes along with better info.  I think that if you're too heavy, then losing weight helps with heart health and I find the low-carb easiest to handle from others I've tried because I'm not hungry.  It's one reason that low-carb is so popular. However, a low-carb meal plan also focuses on eating plenty of fats which might not work for heart health.  Plus, the diet doesn't focus on eating foods that are low in sodium.

Interesting, so I don't think this would be the way to go. At least not the high in fat foods. Sodium is a big no no when eating heart healthy. Guess I better check with the doctor.
