Being Someone's Medical Power of Attorney
« on: September 23, 2019, 02:28:16 AM »
My mother is having one of her knees replaced soon. She thought it would be a good idea to make me her medical power of attorney in case anything goes wrong. She told me about this just the other day. While I know what she wants done in certain situations, i really hate having this responsibility on my shoulders. I love my mother dearly, it just makes me nervous being in this position.

That would make me really nervous, too. Even if you know what someone's wishes are, it's a huge responsibility being the person who makes medical decisions for that person if they can't do it themselves.

I'm really glad to hear I'm not the only one who feels overwhelmed by this responsibility. Hopefully nothing will go awry so I don't have to make any decisions on her behalf. Her surgery is coming up next week, and I've been so anxious about it.
