Bury, Cremate, or Preserve?

I prefer to bury my pets when they die. I have a place in our backyard where our late pets were buried. They even have their own grave marker so I can remember where they were buried.

My mom's Yorkie passed away last week, and my mom decided on cremation. The ashes are at her house, and I eventually will ask if she will keep them or has other plans. I see the pluses of each way.
