Football nights

As new empty nesters, it took time to adjust and think of the other person's company and value, in the face of loneliness. The kids had taken a lot of our time and in the course of it all, we had little time to spare for each other. On nights like today, he would be concentrating on football completely oblivious of my presence. Over time, he started paying attention and listening to me, without this sport necessarily coming in between us.

Indeed MaryB, especially when it's just the two of you in the house. It is never easy and over time, you realize that it doesn't really help when you keep pushing and 'nagging'.
