Remarriage
« on: February 17, 2019, 01:35:40 PM »
I used to think that if I became a young widow, I would consider remarrying. Now that "young" no longer applies, the thought of starting over with someone new makes me mentally tired. I think I'm "one and done." Either that, or I'm not romantic anymore! What are your thoughts?

Hot topic for me, noodle..   I have my theory on this.  haha  You are my captive audience so you have to listen haha  I think if a person had a good marriage they would want to remarry hoping to get that kind of good marriage back, but if a person had a bad marriage they would never risk another bad marriage again.  Mine has been a struggle for 40 years so I would never ever ever consider doing it again, if or when this one ends.

You don't think, then, that if marriage is work, some of us are just too tired to take on the job again? Hehe. I would add that if you're from a family that makes a big deal about a spouse's background (like my parents and in-laws), it's not fun imagining dealing with that again, even with everyone being much older.

I can't imagine myself marrying again, but not due to my age. Honestly, I just can't be bothered with all that comes along with having a spouse. Maybe I'll change my mind in a few years.

CountryMom, with your new move you may just meet the perfect combination of a friend in a man!  Now that would be awesome!   :smileyholdingflower:

Wow, Noodle, I don't know what I'd do! My marriage was great in the beginning, and it's not terrible now, but we are definitely having our struggles.

If my husband passed away or if we got divorced, I know I wouldn't go back into the dating pool for quite a while. I agree with you, just thinking about starting over with someone new is exhausting!
