Wanting to Do Something Special for Valentine's Day

I want to do something special with my husband this year for Valentine's Day, something for just us, to allow us to reconnect. I want to show him that I love and appreciate him. We've had a hard time since my daughter left for school, and I want him to know how much I still care for him.


Going out to or making dinner just seems too simple this year. Maybe I could plan a little weekend getaway?


Do you all have any ideas? I'd really like to surprise my husband with something great!

I recently saw a program about how experiencing something new together can bring a couple closer.  Gifts of experience are usually more memorable down the road too.  Is there anything he's wanted to learn, do, see, or try that you all could enjoy together?

Perhaps spend the night at a cute little Bed and Breakfast and take a walk (not sure of the climate where you are) or drive around the area to look at the scenery. Go on a wine tasting tour or take a ride in a horse-drawn carriage.
