I Stuck My Toe in the Water
« on: March 05, 2019, 05:51:23 AM »
I stuck my toe in the water this past weekend. It was really difficult for me, and I am proud of myself for taking this seemingly small step.

My husband was watching his sports on Saturday afternoon as usual. I really wanted to go out and do something with him. So, I asked him if he'd like to come browse some shops downtown with me and have dinner. He was a bit reluctant, but in the end, we compromised. He watched his sports for another hour, then we went out and had a nice dinner and browsed a few stores together. It was a lovely time! I'm glad I asked, and I'm glad we came to a nice compromise so we could both do something we wanted that day.

That's awesome, Layla! Like you, I felt reluctant to ask my husband to go do something different together. It feels easier after taking that first step and continuing to step.

Well someone has/needs to make the first move sometimes and glad to see you did and it worked for you! Keep it up and who knows, he just might start making the first move next.  :13:  Some things are worth working on.

Thank you for the encouragement, everyone! I'm sure I'll be nervous for a while whenever I express my feelings and needs and wants, but I believe you all when you say that it gets easier over time.
