What did you foresee?
« on: November 06, 2018, 02:21:36 PM »
I was really surprised to hear that there are parents who look forward to the day the children leave home. Parents could get overwhelmed because of the emotional aspect of raising kids, especially teenagers. On the other hand, there are those that may not necessarily feel sad, and so they tend to fall in the middle.

How was this experience like for you?

I had a lot of mixed emotions. I daydreamed about the things my husband and I could do when my daughter was out of the house, like going for spontaneous date nights or taking a spontaneous weekend min-vacation. My daughter and I don't always see eye-to-eye, but we generally get along, and I knew I'd also be sad to not have her around much anymore.

Just like you Layla, I had a lot of mixed emotions but every time they would overwhelm me, I would push them to the back of my mind. I miss having them around and over time, we get used to seeing them just a few times each month. The transition is a must-happen and how we respond to it is what matters.
