Long-term care insurance as a safety net?
« on: September 30, 2018, 12:00:04 AM »
As a child, I saw how caregiving for my grandparents impacted my family in such a negative way, especially financially.  My parents are considering buying a long-term care insurance policy.  My wife and I have thought about getting policies later on for ourselves as well.  I've tried conducting some research, but it's hard to determine which articles are factual and which articles have been created as forms of advertisement.  The idea of a safety net is appealing, but is it too good to be true?  Has anyone here looked into getting a long-term care policy?

After looking into it, my parents, wife, and I decided to fund our future care another way.  My parents settled on an annuity while my wife and I haven't decided what we'll do.  We have some time though.  There are different types of long-term insurance plans, so one might work for you.  I hope you'll chime in if you have a different experience.
