Help with an avocado plant
« on: November 22, 2017, 03:42:33 PM »
My mother used to grow avocado bushes (trees) what ever they are, and had no problems.  I can't seem to grow one.  Can any one help me get one started?  I know that you have to have half in and half out of the water.  Then what?

Interestingly, I have never known how to grow avocado trees but there are two great trees at our farm that yield really good fruits. I hope we both learn how to do this through the discussions on this thread.

Maybe it's your climate?  They grow here (Florida) easy.   :big hug smiley sign:

I've never heard of this one.  Are you trying to plant an avocado pit?  I think the ones from the store might be sterile.  I'm with MaryB. on this one, it's probably just your climate.  Plants tend to slow down in the fall and winter too, could that be it?
