Are there any good foods that will help my dry skin?
« on: November 12, 2017, 01:37:56 PM »
I am going through menopause and my skin is extremely dry.  Lotion really doesn't seem to do the job.  I was wondering if there are things I can eat that might help?  Any advice is welcome.  Thanks.

Water, Water, Water......:) They say that is the best way to keep your body hydrated. It's suppose to be really good for your skin, so if you aren't drinking a lot give it a try. (It's also the best 'diet' pill around too!) Good luck!

Water is always good and the easiest fix. For me, that's not the easiest thing for me because for some reason, I just don't like drinking water? Terrible and odd, I know. What helps me with my skin isn't necessarily a food, but try some fish oil supplements. Fish oil has oodles of health benefits!

I'm so dry too. My dermatologist suggested I use Cera Ve moisturizer. I drink a ton of water too. My skin is still pretty dry. I've never heard of foods that help. I'd love to know if there are.

Thanks for all the great advice.  I, unfortunately, have the same problem as Treasure.  I don't really like water unless it is a hot day and I'm working outside.  Guess I will have to get over that problem.  Otherwise, I will dry up and blow away!

Becki, oh my gosh, I'm so glad I'm not alone! Everyone always looks at me like they think I'm crazy when I say that. I will echo amsmomm as well, Cera Ve has some great cleansers out there. I use their hydrating one and I'm in love with it. I also use rosehip oil as a facial moisturizer and it's relatively inexpensive (as far as these things go at least) and I bet they'd work on some other dry areas as well! I'd also check out your shaving cream and see if there's a more hydrating one you could use. I noticed some drastic changes after switching from a regular shaving gel to a hydrating cream.
