How much time does your vet spend with you?

My usual vet is booked up for a month solid during after work hours, so I had to take my cat elsewhere.  I didn't like this new vet at all.  He had us in and out in five minutes or less.  I didn't feel like he really looked my poor baby over or listened to me.  That's what I get for going to a different place instead of taking off work for an appointment with our usual crew.  How much time does your vet spend on you and your pet?  Are you satisfied with the services?

I am very satisfied with my vet.  He is a calm, gentle man that takes all the time he needs calming my kitties when we go in for shots and exams.  We have recently moved and his office is very close.  I have indoor kitties so not much trauma for them except being put in their carriers.

We had a great vet and had to find a new one when we moved.  The office staff are horrible and each time we have to suffer thru them I think of looking elsewhere, but when we get in the room with the vet he is so kind and caring and patient that we go back.  I think the staff need training!

MaryB, it is so good to hear from you again!  Have you told the vet how the office staff behaves?  He might just be too busy to realize how they are acting.  I would want to know if I was the vet.  If you're put off, I bet others are too. 


I like my regular vet a lot and shouldn't have went elsewhere.  Just trying to get him in without missing work.  My vet has a separate waiting room for cats, which makes a big difference I think.
 
Kidless, mine are indoor and outdoor, but we have a special fence to keep them in the yard.  The vet acted afraid of my cat.  Like my cat was going to eat him up.  When my kitty was just scared.  I had no problems getting him out and holding him.

That personal touch with the little animals, is all that matters. Even when there isn't much going on with my kitties and dogs, my vet will always go an extra mile to pass the message that they matter to him as much as they do to us. I wouldn't go back to a vet who acted afraid.

When my vet put my Daisy down, here recently,  it was the kindest loving euthanasia we've experienced, and then a couple of weeks later we get a thank you from a place where the vet made a donation in my Daisy's name..  it just touched us so deep.  Somehow once we get in the office all the office staff frustrations go away, but I think you are right we need to say something.
