Some Days
« on: August 08, 2017, 06:59:30 AM »
Some days I get hit with such a strong memory of my son that it knocks me off my feet.  I try to remember only the good things.  When the bad things come up, my brick wall does too.  I just can't think about it.  What do you all do to ward off those thoughts?

Oh yes for sure!  Some memories put me right back to the most painful time and I've learned not to live there, to nip it in the bud immediately.  My trick is to repeat, (very fast), "Let it go!  Let it Go!!! Let it gooooo"!

I soooo understand where you are coming from kidless! We have pictures of our son around the house and every now and then I stop and really look at them then suddenly feel as if someone is sucking the breath out of me it's so painful. I think I pretty much do as you and put that brick wall up and move on. Even after 5 1/2 years it's still that way. I think it will be that way still if I live to be a 100. Some things you just don't get over......you can keep it pushed back and keep moving forward, but the hurt is still there lingering.

Oh Jeanine.  I didn't know!  I'm so sorry for your loss.  It's been 11 years for me and although time helps, the memories and the grief never fade.  I console myself by knowing that God had a higher purpose and that it will be revealed to me one day.  On the other hand I get so angry at times I just want to strangle something/someone/anything.  My other son is close so that helps and there are grandchildren so that is a big help.  I am with you, heart and soul
.   :hugs:
