2nd Childhood?
« on: August 05, 2017, 07:30:13 AM »
Hi folks.  I'm new here and look forward to getting to know you.  My kids have all gone now and although I do miss them, I feel a certain freedom that hasn't bee there in many years.  I can now go anywhere and do anything without that responsibility of having to go home or be at home.  I'm like a kid with a new toy.  Is this the wrong way to feel.  Should I feel guilty?

Nothing to feel guilty about.  Your kids are not out there feeling guilty for enjoying their new found freedom!..  None of our children are..  it's time we enjoy it too!   :cutecheerleader:

You should never feel guilty about enjoy yourself. Your kids are out having fun themselves and there's no reason that you shouldn't have fun too.

Thank you for the encouragement.  Don't get me wrong.  I do miss them.  Just not enough to be devastated.  I have already started going places and doing things I wouldn't have done had they been at home.  A new sewing class, a wine tasting, a movie with the girls.  It's just wonderful!!!

I think it's wonderful that you're enjoying your life.

My second child and baby boy just left the house, so I'm still in alert mom mode. I'm hoping as time passes, that I find new joys in life too.
