Living on a Tight Budget
« on: May 31, 2017, 06:02:21 PM »
I'm sure that I'm not the only one experiencing this, but, does anyone else find that the amount of your income is diminishing in your "golden years" because of greedy entities chipping away at your nest egg? We seniors seem to be big targets for these swindlers! I don't mean only scam artists, but garages, stores, beauty parlors, restaurants, etc. It seems that prices hike up daily! I know that they need to make a living, but why aren't any authorities regulating these thieves?! Give me a break!

How about at the grocery store!  It's like you can't hardly eat anything above spaghetti and toasted cheese sandwiches!
That's why I'm fixin to find a job.   :dunno:

We live from month to month at our house and it is so hard to make it sometimes. Groceries alone are through the roof and our electric bill is now triple what it was 10 years ago. It is so sad to struggle so much even though we don't have a house payment or a car payment anymore.

You are definitely not the only one. It gets thick at times but there's always a way out. Life is much more expensive than it was a few years back. Now that you've brought this up, how can we seniors overcome these swindlers?

Things are always tight for us and we have not hit our golden years yet. I think the cost of living has skyrocketed horribly! I simply do not know how we will make it when we are trying to live off of retirement a few years down the road.

You raise a really valid point, especially because we often use the present to try and predict what it will be like in the near future. All the same, I have always been an optimist and a firm believer that things will always work out. What I'm totally against is those people who are always out to exploit us seniors.

I know exactly what you mean.

What always bothers me is the food bills. My husband always complained about how much I spent until he went shopping in February and came back looking shocked because he couldn't believe how much prices had gone up. Even buying discount food and freezing it doesn't help much, especially when we are trying to eat healthily.
