Too late to reveal hidden desires?
« on: March 25, 2017, 05:31:32 PM »
I've had this 'desire' that I've carried around for years now and I think the time has finally come to reveal it to my husband, but I'm afraid he's going to freak out. How do you broach these sensitive subjects with your partner when there is something that you've been fantasizing about, but you don't know how they might feel about it?

I think that depends on what it is. Is it something that might jeopardize your marriage? If so, I think I would just keep it to myself.

My husband is usually quite intuitive when it comes to the things that I want, and often times he knows what I want even before I tell him, but this is something that I'm quite sure he has absolutely no clue about. As for jeopardizing my marriage, well, if I have a dream that I want to follow, and my husband doesn't feel the same way about it, then I would have a choice to make between my dream and my marriage, wouldn't I? At our age, it's always going to be the marriage, but I do wish I could have them both.

You are fortunate that your hubby is in tune with your feelings.  I can write it out to mine and he will say he is illiterate!  haha   :dunno:

As a man, Kirsten, and according to what transpires in my marriage, and also being intuitive, like you said your husband is in your other post, about my wife's inner workings, I would venture to say, give it a go and tell your husband about your "buried desire". If he knows you like you say he does, I would venture to say that you may be pleasantly surprised when he may go along with your wish. If your desire isn't a direct threat to your relationship, it may prove to be a welcome boost to your empty nest marriage.

Say, Kirsten, if you have a secret desire to do something, and it's legitimate, then by all means, give it a go! You know, you only go around once in this life, why not enjoy something that you may have a knack for. I think that your husband will go along when he sees that it's something that yo enjoy and doesn't take too much from your married life. Good luck!
