Surprised Myself
« on: October 19, 2016, 07:31:27 AM »
Sunday, Oct. 16th, was the anniversary of the death of my Son 10 years ago and I totally forgot.  My youngest son called me just to check in and see if I was O.K.  My daughter contacted me just to say she loved me.  I had no idea why either of these things happened.  Later on that evening it hit me.  I can't believe I forgot.  What does that say about me?   :03:

I'm so sorry Kidless, that must have been really hard for you. I don't think that it says anything bad about you, I just think that it means that you have healed over time and have finally found a way to move on. I don't believe that our loved ones who have passed would want us to spend our whole lives being sad over them, even if it is on the day that they left us. I just hope that you aren't being too hard on yourself.

Thanks Peyton.  I really haven't been too hard I don't think.  And I guess it's time I moved on.  He really wouldn't have wanted me to grieve.  We did go to a BBQ fundraiser yesterday for a young man that is fighting cancer.  The atmosphere there was grim and I remembered what my son's fundraiser was like.  I pray for this young man and hope all will go well for him.   :13:

I am also sorry for your loss Kidless. It just means that you have healed over time and I know that wherever he is, all he wants is for you to be happy. I also pray and hope that it will be well for the young cancer patient.

I can understand if you feel frustrated about yourself, but it's also commendable that you spent the day supporting another life. As a parent, we pray for our children regardless of place and time. It's the thought that counts.
