Airbnb.com anyone?
« on: February 21, 2016, 03:45:25 PM »
A coworker was telling me about this website that I have never heard of. It's called airbnb.com. Have you ever heard of it or used it? I can't believe how cheap some of the rooms are. It is mostly condos or personal houses that people rent out. I almost booked a condo right on the beach at Myrtle Beach for $77 bucks a night. I'm going to do a little research on the website before I enter my credit card.

I've heard good things about AirBnB, but have never used them; hubby and I did use a similar homestay site when we went to the UK several years ago, and it was a great experience -- much more warm and personal (and far less expensive) than staying in a hotel. As with all similar ventures, it pays to do your homework.

I've never heard of this website before. My husband and I are trying to book a hotel for 4 days right now for a trip we are taking with my sister and brother-in-law. I'll have to check this place out because I can't touch a room for under $150 a night.

I haven't personally used the site, but I have a friend in New Orleans who rents out part of his house in the French Quarter through AirBnB. It sounds like an interesting concept, but I'd be worried about getting scammed.

I just looked because of this post. I'm not sure that I would use it. I see a ton of great reviews but I'm a little skeptical at times. What if you planned a long vacation and they canceled!

I have heard of this only because it made the news. Some people rented out their house to a mom, but the "mom" was only a cover for someone else who paid her to rent a house for the weekend. They wanted a party pad for the weekend. They ended up trashing the place.

My friend's daughter travels a lot for both work and pleasure. She has used this site a lot. In fact, when her grandmother passed away last month she was able to find a room for $25 a night right here in the little community where we live. When the homeowner found out why she was in town she let her have the room for free.
