When It's Time To Call Hospice

I think this can be the most difficult part of choosing home care for a family member who is reaching the final stages of life here on earth. We had to call hospice last week for mother-in-law. She passed away last night. I am thankful for having the opportunity to care for her but am ever so thankful for the nurse who came to help us through the difficult moments when emotions were running so high that it was difficult to take care of the necessary tasks.

Absolutely, hospice nurses must have a special place in heaven for the work they do at a critical and very difficult time. I'll always bless the names of those good people who cared for my dear grandma when she was going through the final days of cancer.

They are difficult aren't they? It is a fine line to walk and you articulated that very well. I give credit to the nurses in a hospice for their level of professionalism.

I am so very sorry, Allie. I agree. Hospice care is wonderful. I have had both family members and friends who were assisted by hospice services. The people who worked for hospice were so kind and loving and supported not only the patients, but also their families during such a heartbreaking time.
